Light Railway
The
Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway weaves its way through
the delightful Banwy Valley and gives you the chance to see deer
and birds of prey, heron, kingfisher and even otters. It was originally
used to transport sheep, cattle and locally grown timber from Llanfair
to Welshpool Canalside through the town centre.
The line has been reclaimed over the years by a group
of dedicated enthusiasts, the engines polished and carriages painted
to gleaming perfection.
Montgomery Canal
Or why not take a cruise on the Montgomery
Canal, which
flows through both Berriew and Welshpool, transporting passengers
along one of Britain’s most beautiful inland waterways
